Thanksgiving Dinner

If you burn your turkey, scorch the potatoes, or need cooking advice, there are plenty of blog posts to help.

This blog post may be helpful after dinner, though.

Here are a few tips for dealing with some common food stains that may appear on your linens or clothes.

My first tip is what I do - gather everything up and get it into the cleaners promptly. Clothing care pros are good at knowing exactly what a food stain might be and how to treat it for best removal - even if it’s been a few days.

  1. Let the stains dry. Mildew is more difficult to remove than food stains, so be sure to not put anything in plastic or somewhere that it will stay damp.

  2. The very best pre-spotter for any food or drink stain is liquid dish detergent. My favorite brands are Method and Mrs. Meyers. You can use this on greasy stains, wine stains, or even lipstick that might show up on your napkins.

  3. If you DIY wash your items at home, don’t dry them until you know the stains have been removed. Drying an item with heat in a dryer may set the stains.
